This is a year long course with Semester A and B lasting 15 weeks each.
A-G approved for those high school students seeking credit from a rigorous program. This YEAR-LONG course is an in-depth study of life sciences, with the first 30 minutes covering conceptual content and the remaining 1 hour involving hands-on lab work. There is no math requirement for this class.
Topics of study include using a compound microscope (which will be used throughout the class), Cell Biology (Prokaryotes and Eukaryotes, organelles, functions), as well as various cell processes (transportation, reproduction, and differentiation).
Additional topics include Genetics (heredity & DNA), Ecology & Biological diversity of organisms, matter, energy, organization of living systems, natural selection, evolution of living systems, interdependence of organisms/ecosystems, physiology, the biosphere and interdependence of abiotic and biotic factors.
